Top 8 tips to get a glowing and beautiful skin at home

1) Use a gentle cleanser

Your skin is a major organ, so it’s important to take care of it. But your skin also goes through changes throughout the year, and you may need to switch up your routine if you feel that it isn’t working as well for you at any given time.

You can use a cleanser that gently removes dirt and oil without stripping away too much moisture from the surface of your skin. A mild cleanser will help keep your pores clean, but won’t dry out or strip away natural oils in the process.

2) Skip the hot showers

Skip the hot shower. Use cold gentle water, and then pat your face dry with a soft towel. This will help to reduce chapping, which is the result of too much water that dries out the skin's protective outer layer.

Hot showers dry up your skin faster and may also cause tan overtime.  It is recommended to use gentle tap water or warm water for bathing.

3) Keep your skin moisturised

Moisturising is important for glowing skin. It keeps the skin hydrated and supple, making it look smooth and healthy. You can use a moisturiser twice daily. If you want, you can also apply the moisturiser on top of your night cream.

4) Wear sunscreen everyday

Use sunscreen every day, even on weekends! Spending time in the sun can cause age spots to appear on your face, so it's important to protect yourself from UV rays at all times.

Choose sunscreen that is compatible to your skin type. Consult your skin specialist or beauty expert to get better guidance.

5) Don't forget to nourish your skin

Use only natural products on your skin. Avoid using any kind of chemicals that can be harmful for your body and its natural systems.

Eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Fruit and vegetables are good sources of antioxidants that can help improve your skin condition by fighting free radicals in the body which cause ageing process.

Skin requires proper nutrition and it can be achieved by consuming a healthy and well balanced diet rich in Vitamin E, D and other minerals.

6) Try steam on your skin for natural de-clogging process

Steam is a great way to get rid of dead skin cells and impurities.

Steam can be used on the face to remove blackheads and whiteheads, pimples and other blemishes. You can also use steam on your scalp to help reduce dandruff.

Steam is effective for deep cleansing the body as well. It helps remove excess sebum from the skin and reduces dead cells from clogging pores.

The steam will also open up blocked pores so that dirt and oil doesn’t stick around for too long before being removed by watery waste products from within the body (sebum).

7) Get an oil massage

The best way to get a glowing and beautiful skin is to have a facial massage regularly. It is a great way to relax, unwind, and enjoy the benefits of a relaxing massage. Facial massage helps in improving the blood supply of the skin and hence the skin gets more nutrients from the blood. Massage helps relax the skin cells and promotes the growth of new skin cells.

Oil massage to the body helps improve the blood circulation and it nourishes our skin too. Oil massage also provides strength to the muscles.  Good body massage often induces sleep and help you feel relaxed.  Regular massaging at some intervals adds to the glow of your skin.

8) Remove your makeup every night before bed

Remove your makeup daily before you go to bed. Clean your makeup using wipes or use cotton oil dipped in coconut oil to wipe your make up.

Coconut oil is a rich ingredient that removes tan and dark circles on your face and helps you gain a natural and beautiful glow on your skin. Massage the oil lightly on your skin.

You can use a mild moisturiser following make up removal or let the coconut oil rest on your face overnight.

Xerophthalmia: Vitamin-A-deficiency eye disorder

What is Xerophthalmia?   Xerophthalmia is a progressive eye condition that results from severe deficient levels of vitamin A in the blood and is characterised by dryness of the eye.  Vitamin A is an essential micronutrient that nourishes our eyes. Good eye has good tear duct functioning. When the tear glands work effectively, the eyes get lubricated enough and thus get the frontline defense system.   When the tear glands are less active or inactive the eyes do not produce tears and this makes it dry. Cornea the first transparent layer becomes dry easily as it is in the contact with the outer air. This may cause corneal ulcer or erosion.  In Xerophthalmia the tear production decreases due to the less amount of Vitamin A.  Conjunctiva and cornea dry up easily and then start to form wrinkles.
